From November 5–8, Tütar gallery will take part in Art Cologne, the world’s longest-running international contemporary art fair, presenting new, previously unseen works by Katrin Piile from her painting series “Nothing Blooms Always – After Still Life” and “Back into the Soil”. Katrin Piile (1987) is an Estonian painter who lives and works in Tallinn. She graduated from the Estonian Academy of Arts with a BA in painting (2010) and has been exhibiting since 2006. Her practice is distinguished by technical mastery, meticulous attention to detail, and a highly time-intensive working process, most evident in her hyperrealist paintings and drawings. Her works are often developed as larger series that combine technical skill, carefully constructed colour compositions and references to the history of painting. Piile has received the Malle Leis Art Prize (2020) and the Konrad Mägi Prize (2024). Collectors interested in the VIP preview, visiting the fair or the catalogue of works are kindly asked to get in touch in advance at info@tutar.ee. Hall 11.2 Booth N021 Tütar gallery’s participation is supported by the Estonian Contemporary Art Development Center.

Tütar gallery presents works by Katrin Piile at Art Cologne 2026

Tütar gallery is excited to welcome painter August Sai to the list of represented artists. His solo exhibition “In the Skin of Paint” is on view at the gallery until 1 November. In his painting series, August Sai (1983) combines images from art history, film stills and staged photographs, choosing his subjects primarily for their formal qualities. He contrasts the illusion of a meticulously painted image with the materiality of the painted surface, exploring how cultural knowledge and personal experience shape what the viewer sees. The exhibition “In the Skin of Paint” presents paintings made in a technique of the artist’s own, combining motifs from Old Master paintings with a sculptor’s approach to material. Sai peels the skin of oil paint from the canvas and shapes it by hand, turning the original image into something spatial and sculptural. August Sai graduated with a BA in Painting from the Estonian Academy of Arts in 2010 and took part in the FLACC Workplace for Visual Artists residency programme in Belgium. Alongside his current exhibition at Tütar gallery, his solo exhibitions include “The Story of Paint” at Hobusepea Gallery (2020) and “Twenty Cases” at Draakon Gallery (2018).
